What this site collects, why it collects it, who else sees it, and how to make it go away.
Steward-Ship (steward-ship.com) is an independent publication operated by Devone Williams as a sole proprietor in the United States. In this policy, "Steward-Ship," "we," and "us" all mean the same one person. "You" means anyone visiting the site.
Steward-Ship publishes ideas, prototypes, and guidance for nonprofit donor stewardship. It is a publication and a set of demonstration tools. It is not a customer relationship manager, a donor database, or a service that processes constituent records on a nonprofit's behalf.
Steward-Ship does not want your donor data, does not ask for it, and does not store it. Nothing on this site requires you to upload a constituent list, connect a CRM, or paste giving records. The prototypes run entirely in your browser with sample content.
Please do not include donor names, gift amounts, contact records, health or family details, or anything else exported from your CRM in a contact form message or an email to us. If you send that information anyway, we will delete it and ask you to resend the question without it.
Three kinds of information, and no more than that.
| Information | Purpose | Legal basis (UK/EU) |
|---|---|---|
| Contact form submissions | To read your message and reply to it | Legitimate interest in responding to inquiries |
| Newsletter email address | To send the daily stewardship idea you asked for | Consent, withdrawable at any time |
| Analytics events | To understand which ideas are useful and where the site is confusing | Legitimate interest in improving the publication |
| Server and security logs | To deliver pages, prevent abuse, and diagnose outages | Legitimate interest in site security |
Steward-Ship does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act and comparable state laws. There is no scenario in which your email address is rented, traded, or handed to a list broker.
Information is shared only with the service providers that make the site function, each acting on our instructions and bound by its own terms:
| Provider | Role | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Pages | Hosting and content delivery | Request logs, IP address |
| Google Analytics 4 | Traffic measurement | Pseudonymous usage events, truncated IP |
| Web3Forms | Contact form delivery | Contact form contents, relayed to our email |
| Kit (formerly ConvertKit) | Email newsletter delivery | Subscriber email address, engagement events |
| Google Fonts, cdnjs | Fonts and animation library | IP address at the moment of the request |
Beyond those providers, information is disclosed only when the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order, or when it is necessary to investigate fraud or a threat to someone's safety. If Steward-Ship is ever transferred to a new owner, subscriber information may transfer with it, and you would be notified by email before that happens.
This site uses a small number of first-party and analytics cookies. It does not use advertising cookies. The full inventory, including cookie names and lifespans and how to switch them off, is in the Cookie Policy.
Google Analytics can be blocked entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by turning on your browser's Do Not Track or global privacy control signal, or by using any standard content blocker. Nothing on the site breaks when analytics is blocked.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information held about you, correction of anything inaccurate, deletion of it, a portable copy of it, or an end to certain processing. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have these rights by statute, as do residents of the UK and the European Economic Area.
Practically speaking, exercising them here is simple. Email hello@steward-ship.com and say what you want done. We will confirm your request within 45 days, usually far sooner, and we will not charge you or degrade your experience of the site for asking. Every newsletter also carries a one-click unsubscribe link in its footer, which is the fastest route if the newsletter is all you want to stop.
If we cannot verify that a request came from you, we may ask a clarifying question before acting on it. You may use an authorized agent. If you believe a request was handled wrongly, you may appeal by replying to our response, and where applicable you may complain to your state attorney general or your national data protection authority.
This site is built for professional fundraisers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted information here, email us and it will be deleted.
Steward-Ship is operated from the United States, and the service providers listed above process data in the United States and other countries. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy law differs from the law where you live. Where a transfer mechanism is required for UK or EEA personal data, our providers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
This policy will change when the site changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how your information is used, we will say so in the newsletter rather than quietly editing the page.
Privacy questions, requests, and complaints all go to the same place:
